On Friday, November 22nd, we will be partnering with to package meals for the Philippines. At this point it is expected that we will package 11,000 meals! Even if you didn't sign up in advance, please come and join us. Strong hands are needed for set up from 3-5.
Folks of all ages and ability are invited to join us between 5 and 7 for the actual packaging - yes children are welcome! From 7 to 8 we'll be cleaning up.

Festival of Music
Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Join us for the 28th Annual Festival of Music at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 600 16th Street in Lakeport.
Each year choirs, instrumentalists and vocalists from the local community present a free evening of holiday music to get the season started off right.
An interfaith and community gathering, the festival will feature some returning favorites this year including Wing and a Prayer!
Note to Parents: This concert is always a wonderful event but the length can be difficult for children. If you plan to attend you may wish to bring an activity bag to keep them occupied.
A Tapestry of Light: A Celtic Christmas Celebration
Sunday, December 8th at 4:00 p.m.
The Chancel Choir will be presenting a Christmas Cantata. “Tapestry of Light”, springs from the rich heritage of “Celtic” Christmas music. From seasonal songs that lift the spirits to quiet carols of reflection and peace. This choral tapestry richly tells the Christmas story using familiar carols and folks songs. You are invited to come out and include this event in your 2013 Christmas celebration of the message of God’s love. Our prayer is that the grace that inspired these time honored tunes surround and inspire you!
The Lake County Symphony Christmas Concert

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
December 24th at 7:00 p.m.
The prophet Isaiah proclaimed: “The people that walked in darkness, have seen a great light: to them that dwelt in the region of the shadow of death, light is risen.”
Throughout the season of Advent we’ve been waiting for the light of Christ to dawn in a new and fresh way upon our hearts and in our lives. Now the time is come. Join us on Christmas Eve for this delightful and joyous celebration for all God’s Children. Candles will be provided for you to light and, as always, there will be a special time for the young and young at heart!
Poinsettias for the Sanctuary
December 1st is the deadline to get your poinsettia orders to Diana Green. Each plant from Jackie’s Flowers is $15 and checks are payable to UCP.
If you are purchasing the poinsettia in honor or memory of a loved one be sure to give the inscription to Diana by December 1st as well. We will also share inscription/dedications on the announcement slides. If you have a Christmas photo of your honoree you may provide that as well.
The 5th Annual Essay Contest on Christian Unity
Sponsored by the Lake Ministerial Association
Each year the Lake Ministerial Association (LMA) has a writing contest for youth and young adults. The LMA offers one scholarship of $500 to the student who best articulates the theme of Christian unity through the lens of Martin Luther King Day and the current year’s focus. Essays must be three type-written pages long and must be received by 10a.m. January 2nd.
Late entries will not be considered. Entries can be mailed to UCP at 745 N Brush St., Lakeport, CA 95453. Please mark the envelope “Scholarship”. Entries may also be submitted personally to either:
The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a high school or college student and can be used for tuition or a mission trip.
